Before using
Tell your doctor if you had an allergy to any components of Lotrisone. You may need a dose adjustment or additional monitoring of your condition.
Directions for using Lotrisone
Read patient instruction label and follow its directions carefully. Ask your doctor if something is unclear to you. Do not cover infected area with a bandage or other clothes after you rub it with the cream. Let your skin become dry and wear loose-fitting clothes. Usually Lotrisone is used 2 times a day: in the morning and in the evening. Keep it away from eyes and mouth. Do not stop using Lotrisone before the end of the treatment period which was recommended by your doctor even if your condition has improved.
Cautions
Betamethasone and some other steroid drugs can affect the functioning of the adrenal, hypothalamic, and pituitary glands and temporarily produce sugar in the urine, excessive blood sugar levels, and a disorder called Cushing\'s syndrome. You can notice this by certain symptoms which include acne, depression, excessive hair growth, humped upper back, insomnia, moon-faced appearance, muscle weakness, obese trunk, paranoia, stretch marks, stunted growth (in children), wasted limbs, and susceptibility to bruising, fractures, and infection.
Lotrisone should be used only on the skin, do not take it internally. Check with your doctor if your condition does not improve after 1 week of treatment period.
Certain amount of Lotrisone will be absorbed through your skin into the bloodstream. This may lead to some side effects that is why try not to use large amounts of Lotrisone and for longer period than recommended.
It is unlikely that Lotrisone interacts with other medicines but inform your doctor about all over-the-counter medications that you’re taking.
Possible side effects
Most people don’t experience any side effects while using Lotrisone. But if any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Then he should evaluate your condition and determine if it is safe to continue using Lotrisone.
Possible side effects: blistering, burning, dry skin, hives, infection, irritated skin, itching, peeling, reddened skin, skin eruptions and rash, stinging, swelling, tingling sensation.
